Aemond and Vanwa
Oct. 5th, 2022 10:26 pm Water was filling his lungs, hands grasping at the straps that were bound tightly to an ankle. The blonde male struggled to free himself from the saddle of the large creature. By now they'd begun to sink, further and further into the water causing the moon above to black out above. Not that it mattered as he couldn't see and he was quite sure his fate was to either drown or be snatched up by something of the deep who'd smelt the blood that he could taste mixed with the salt water. It had been a close call until the other had leaped on him tried to drive the sword through his skull. Instead it had grazed the corner nearly opening his eye more than need be and slit a good amount open on his cheek. At first everything had been blurred, but then slowly it had gone all rather clouded and red. Airyanna DahliaDaemon Lordoffleabottom Multimuse
Well, now he certainly wished he'd simply taken the blade through his skull. It sounded, nice, pain but followed by silence at least. Real darkness. Hands finally releasing the straps he had been fighting blindly with he lip his lips slowly part again, water rushing into his lungs quickly. It burned! His lungs constricted within his chest but just before he'd completely past out he swore he felt a heavy jolt. His body slammed into Vhagars and that's when everything to his own consciousness had completely gone out.
However if he'd been been awake a moment longer he'd have been met with the briefest look of a beautiful forest and sky beyond, both Dragon and rider then crashing down the rocks of the waterfall that ran out of the mouth of a large cavern. To anyone who might have seen it likely seemed a bit strange. Where within that deep cavern in the mountain had the came from? And further more how had Vhagar even fit through it all?!
With a heavy splash the hardly conscious dragon and rider were hitting the river and rocks below, the large female dragons body so large it hardly moved with the heavy tide and became hung up on the rocks with her rider, still tangled in her saddle and draped down her large wing. Eyepatch gone leaving a scar that mangled from his forehead to his cheek exposed and the diamond within gone. His other eye closed and likely unable to open even if he were conscious due to the blood that coated his eye and drizzled down his cheek, mixing into his thick long blonde hair and near staining strands of it deep red.
There the two lay, beaten and broken somehow still alive despite all odds. Then again, the gods were funny that way. They seemed to like making his people tough and impossible to kill. Perhaps so they could laugh at all of their misery right? Surely even his opponent Daemon would have agreed wherever he lay, if he'd survived.

Vanwa was brooding in his cave, fancying going out for a hunt soon but putting it off as he didn't like to leave unless he had to. His stomach however disagreed with him. As he was venturing out, he saw a dragon and rider crashing to the rocks below. He was shocked! Dragons were considered Dark creatures where he was from. He had come here as an escape from the Elfkind that has tormented him back home. Tried to avoid everybody. He wondered, if the Dragon and his rider were evil here or just he was misunderstanding their culture. He let out his wings and flew like a torpedo down following the line down the waterfall. There was not much that he could do for them but try to rinse the man's wound.

Vhagars head was the first to move, here large eyes opening to look towards the creature approaching. About the size of her rider, give or take. She let out a rumbling growl of warning that damn near shook the rocks they were on but then paused sniffing at the air and the male who approached. Instead she merely lowered her head that was damn near the size of a whom alone back down to the ground. Watching the newcomer as best she could if only to be sure and protect Aemond who she could faintly feel on her wing, his breathing faint and rather forced.

Vanwa felt the dragons eyes on him. It made him nervous. He worked at untangling the saddle and freeing the man next. Waded to shallower water with him and turned him in his arms so he faced down. Worked at getting water out of his lungs.
As a dragon shiftling maybe he could mindlink with a dragon? He decided to try it. {What happened.} He asked bluntly to the dragon.

'No! No not like this!'
About as much went through the males mind as he became somewhat aware of hands pulling him along. The water of the river cold enough to slightly pull him to consciousness but before he could really comprehend much more the other was forcefully pushing on his ribs and chest. Almost the moment he had he went grasping and coughing a good amount of water and rushing up. Probably the worst feeling thus far, shit drowning would have been easier than this! At least in hindsight.
Vhagar meanwhile let out a rather low growl as she felt the others agony somewhere deep within her core. Complimentary of blood bonding. Her eyes however closed for a moment as she tested her eyes tiredly. {War little one. It's always another war} the old dragons voice lingered through the link in a tired manor before she fell silent again. She herself far to spent for much. After as many wars as she'd seen in near three hundred years, this one had taken much out of her.

The dragoness was older than Vanwa would have thought. As she quieted Vanwa took his own dragon form. {I'm going to take this man up to the cave. I live there.} So saying he did so. Nudging the blond man onto his back.

{I am trusting you little one. Do what needs done} Vhagar replied, her voice faintly above a whisper.
Meanwhile Aemond had finally managed to stop choking water. Only to nearly go sinking down for the shallow water he was in again before being swept up by, something. Another dragon? Well certainly seemed like his sort of luck and he just might have smiled under other circumstances. However he was also way to out of it and exhaustion was quick to overtake him again especially once he'd been gently dropped by the creature.

Who then took elfish form again and brought him into the cave. Setting him down on the tatami mat he called a bed.
"Can you speak?" Vanwa asked. "What is your name?"

By this point Aemond was sinking off into such a state of unconsciousness he was fairly certain the voices he could hear were nothing but a dream. "But... I did it for you" sort of slipped out a bit slurred a few minutes after the other had spoken. Then nothing, he hardly stirred where he lay and it was a good deal later when he finally began to pull to consciousness. Both the fact he was cold and fighting the shakes and his head and face were throbbing likely to contribute to suddenly coming to.
The worst part was he immediately noted he couldn't see. His right eye so swollen and bloodied and of course the other had been useless for year. Letting out a gasp he went pushing up from where he lay hands shooting out to feel around him a bit desperately. He heard nothing much that the sound of roaring water somewhere in the distance and a slight echo of his own gasp in the cave. Enough to go off of but still he was pretty tense, every sense straining to actually gather where the hell he was.
The man clearly could not hear Vanwa. Vanwa put a blanket over him and let him rest. He went to hunt because he was hungry after all. He brought back some food for the man to eat, too. By the time he was back and had made stew, the man looked like he was beginning to stir. Vanwa went to him and eased him up with one hand. He had abowl of stew in the other.
"Can you speak?" Vanwa asked him again.

Feeling the others hand Aemond sort of tensed for a moment even more than he was before. Honestly his hand may have even pulled the dagger from his hip.... Had it still been there. However he then remembered at feeling nothing he'd used it on Daemon and probably left it there. Taking a breath he slowly nodded finally "Yeah.." he muttered leaving it at that for the moment. Some kind stranger? Where the hell had he even washed up!?

"I am Vanwa. You are in my home. Tell me your name." He kept his words short, brusque. Placing the stew on a small table that he had brought ove to the mat. The cave was dimly lit, a few candles here and there which Vanwa had lit himself in his dragon form. The floor covered in crude sewn-together skins of the animals Vanwa had hunted and killed for their meat. A collage of pressed flowers forming an equally crude tapsetry banner across the walls. It looked like a place that attempted to look lived-in.

Shadows, that's what he could see out of his half injured eye. Shadows, lights and a vague amount of color. Enough to make out the others movements and that he'd set something in front of him. To which he merely guessed was food just based off the smell. Hand moving to lightly touch the gash on his face he made a face immediately. Damn that fucking piece of dragon shit!
"Aemond..." He replied, debating whether to add his last name. Perhaps it was best not to in the current moment still mostly unsure of where he was except some guys home. That faint echoed like a cave despite the different shades of colors and lighting be could see.
"Where more specifically.... Is your home?" He finally asked. Had to be the riverlands perhaps? Or perhaps he'd washed up somewhere near the iron islands and the north. No, if that was the case he'd be far colder and as it was he didn't have much complaint there. Save for his clothing still felt damp in spots.

"Aemond," Vanwa repeating quietly. "We are in a cavern in the mountains, just above a waterfall," answering his question with simplicity. The climate was on the tropical side of temperate, at least this close to the fall.
This had not always been his home. He had been Exiled from his people because what he was, was something unlike them. People back home were not open-minded. And so, instead of allowing himself to be banished to the dark forest and putting his lot in with a power-hungry, tyrranical overlord, he had quietly arranged for a portal here. He lived out his life quietly outside of civilization, leaving only to hunt when needed.

Well, he'd been attempting to ask for more detail than that but for now that sufficed. Letting out a bit of a tired sigh he moved to pull a knee to his chest. For a moment simply staring through his clouded vision before slowly he moved a shaky hand to pick up the bowl. At first a shaky enough some sloshed to the ground he moved so he had it in both hands and raising it for a moment merely sniffed at the contents. Not exactly what he was used to but then, after being through what he had for the past several days he was far to hungry to care and rather quickly picked up the spoon, shoveling a decent amount into his mouth and in no time he'd gone silent, far to busy near inhaling the food like a man starved.

Vanwa thought, he should eat something because he was very hungry and to share to his house "guest" that the food was "safe", not poisoned. He spooned stew in his own bowl. Sat down by Aemond. Held the bowl to his lips and drank out as much of the broth as he could. He put his spoon in the bowl and scooped up the remains to put in his mouth and eat. He liked his food savory with just enough herbs to bring out the natural flavors. Kept a small herb garden outside that was easily missed, but could get enough sun to thrive.
Moving to place the bowl down as he finished the blonde sat there for a moment. "Did you see.... My dragon?" He asked after a few long moments pause. He couldn't help it, exhaustion still over him like a waive but so was the extreme worry he felt deep down for her. After a fight such as that she could be even worse off than he was. Which, was pretty bad considering he doubted he could get very far on his own in certain lighting and even then. Mix that with the pounding in his head.

"The large girl?" Vanwa would ask. "She's outside. She seemed tired as well." He did not yet know if he could trust this man, but maybe being a dragon rider, would mean he would at least be fine with a shiftling. "She... said I could take you here and that she trusted me."

Tired!? She seemed tired!? He half wanted to snap but for the moment stayed silent, his hand moved to rub down over his face slowly for a moment before sort of letting both eyes close at a faint spell of dizziness. Probably why he nearly missed what the other had said and for a moment he was definitely processing it. "She.... Said?... Are you daft or simply delusional?!" He sort of snapped without thinking suddenly. Straining hard to make out more detail he was soon glaring towards the other, or at least the blotched shadow of him. "Or perhaps you think yourself funny?" He hissed before moving to angrily back hand the bowl in front of him in a short bout of rage. Hands moving up to his head as another dizzy spell rushed over him he let out a growl in frustration. Nothing made sense and the more he was waking up, the less it did.... Which was slowly becoming more and more agitating.

"Easy," Vanwa said. Aemond needed food in his sistem, but Vanwa was not going to fuss over him if he didn't want to feed himself. He filed away that it was unusual to communicate with dragons here. Shiftlings might not be taken too well. Aemond already seemed overwhelmed. "Do you wish me to show you how it is that I can speak with her?" He asked.
